"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." This was the answer given by Socrates over two thousand years ago.
The German philosopher Karl Jaspers mentioned in his work "What is Education": "Education is the education of the human soul, not the accumulation of intellectual knowledge and cognition."
It is recorded in "The Book of Rites · The Record of Learning": "To study alone without friends leads to ignorance and narrow-mindedness."
It is evident that education is a highly complex and creative social activity, and providing quality education is no easy task. Fortunately, through the efforts of sages both Eastern and Western, throughout history, glimpses into the essence of education have been revealed. There are also those who forge ahead, inheriting the educational legacy of their predecessors, acting bravely and steadfastly, in the hope that "a single spark can start a prairie fire," becoming pioneers of ideal education.
At Dingwen Academy Hangzhou, there is a group of such individuals. With enthusiasm, they have dedicated years to the field of education, possessing extensive teaching and management experience. United by a shared educational philosophy, they have joined Dingwen, traveling across mountains and seas, breaking through barriers of language, culture, and geography. With the mission of "pursuing academic excellence, developing holistic education, and nurturing new forces to drive global progress," they are committed to creating a world school with Chinese characteristics.
"Rooted in China, competent globally, universal love." We hope that students of Dingwen Academy not only possess professional academic competence and the ability to thrive globally but also embrace a broad-minded view of the world. Some may think that "universal love" is a foreign concept, but this is not the case. The Confucian idea of "inclusive love" is an ancient form of "universal love." Over time, this concept has evolved to encompass many modern values: equality for all, mutual support and assistance, having a passionate heart, kindness, and tolerance...
Universal love is the culmination of human virtues and qualities. Only with a heart capable of universal love can one embrace the vastness of the world.
